Absolutely Bored Shitless

Ever had one of those times where there's absolutely nothing to do? I'm having it right now. I'm thinking of writing a Valentine's Day poem, not a love poem, I feel Scroogy so it'll be after I drink three tumblers of 'Haterade'. Yeah, bored, just watched Ugly Betty, right now I don't know what to do. Our living room is in a mess, and I found a bag of Mary J on the table, 'it gets wierder and wierder each day'. What's next, Cocaine in the salt dispenser? Okay, ........err.......I've been telling myself, 'Julian- you gotta go to the gym, gotta get your LL Cool J on', but I end up lying in bed imagining myself all Cool J'd up, but I can't find the energy to walk to the damn gym.

Yesterday we had the shittiest turn out for 'Merican Football', there were like 12 active people playing. Seriously, there needs to be a movie made about our team man, there's so much drama. There's the injuries, people walking out of the team, then people leaving-then coming back. There's the drunkeness on busses, the
inspirational team talk, the triumphant moments. All we need is some race issue, like some opponent calling me a 'Nigger' then in the next play I whack him the fuck out. Haha Anyway, I'm still recovering from losing all my songs. My iTunes has random songs here and there, instead of organized lists.

What to do?? What to do??

Yeah, what the fuck? Jennifer Hudson's Vogue photoshoots, they always try to make Afro-American women look like Jigaboos straight from Serengeti wtf? Her mouth all open, and a wack pose, highlighting her collarbones so she appears to be 'thin'. Then the piano picture, she looks like a local 'Akara fryer', totally unattractive. Seriously, JHud is a very attractive woman, and these photographs do not do her justice one bit. Lawd Hammercy! it's a total farce. I'm glad she got the Vogue cover, but if these are the pics that they want to use, I'd rather she didn't get it. I mean, JHud is hott!! and someone that does not know her, and seeing her for the first time in Vogue would be like, "Who the hell is this?", damn, they want to turn Caviar into fish eggs, but no JHud is Caviar baby!

Anyway, enough of this, I'm chilling............ Peace out.

Leeds game

Yeah, just back from the game. We lost, dunno by how much, but we lost. A really shitty game, we were all ballsy, but the pitch was muddy, no markings, effing unprofessional. We toiled and tired all through the match, but we just couldn't do it. I guess when you playing at home on a shitty pitch, you know the areas to avoid.
Anyway, the journey back was alright, everyone was drunk (I guess trying to numb the pain of defeat) I had Jay-Z in my ears all through, "Regrets". I'm tired and all my stuff is muddy and stank.
Today is my sistah Laura's birfday. Happy B'Day girl. Lishee's book should come very soon. I'm aching like a turkey on Thanksgiving morning, Godamn.
I'm boutta hit the sack, have a long ass sleep. I deserve that. I've seen too much brown dirt today, time to look at some brown sugar, Jennifer Hudson baby!

I'm off, stay safe and stay out of trouble

The Woman in Black

Yes, yes y'all. I woke up today, thinking to myself, hmmmmm I know I have to go somewhere tonight, but I couldn't quite remember, then it hit me, yeah, I was gonna see 'The Woman in Black', with Forgemates Hal & Jess, according to Hal, the play was scary as hell! I thought to myself "I can handle it!"
I felt a craving for something sweet in the afternoon, so I went to the laundry to get as Snickers bar, to my annoyance, not only was the vending machine out of Snickers, but it wouldn't even accept my 50p for a Mars bar, I swear that vending machine has issues, it randomly decides what coins to accept and reject, I absoultely hate it!Arghhh. So, still with a sweet-tooth, I thought to myself, I might as well go to the shops a few blocks away and get some chocolate, but I was like Nahhhhh, its too bloody freezing, and the ground is icy, so I went back to my room, hungry and dejected.
Still hungry, I decided to cook something at least, so I had chicken noodles and three pieces of Southern Fried Chicken, yes smackingly delicious, but I would have prefered something sweet. Anyway, the hour arrived, and Jess, Hal and I were off to the Theatre Royal in Newcastle to get the scare of our lives, or so we thought.
But First! FOOD, yes F.O.O.D. We wandered rather aimlessly around the city centre, peeping into restaurants trying to find a suitable place to eat. Finally our wanderings brought us to Chinatown, and we found a restaurant- 'Ho Buffet', yes HO Buffet, HO hahahaha, funny name, but no there were no Hoes in there. The food was great, so much to choose from (self service baby!), I loved it. The funny thing about Ho Buffet was the part in the menu about kids, for a child to be charged a certain amount, he/she had to be of a certain height, that's Chinese people for ya! We gobbled up our Oriental Nutrition and trudged on to the theatre.
When we got into your seats we realised we were like a light-year away from the stage, high up in the stands, good view nevertheless.
And then, the show began. I was expecting to get frightened from the start, but it was rather comedic at first, and later grew darker and darker. I cannot divulge the premise of the play, but its basically consists of three people, the solicitor, another guy (who plays many characters) and the woman in black, who randomly appears and freaks the living shit out of the audience. Her first appearance wasn't all that scary, but, the part that freaked me, and Jess was- the SCREAM. Totally unexpected extra-loud shreiking scream, almost everyone jumped, some women in the crowd screamed. It's funny, when you think of a theatre, you imagine old bearded men in suits watching Shakespeare and nodding their heads, while silently reciting the lines along with the players, these old men accompanied by their grey-haired wives, all engrossed by high-art. But no, this was a different experience, this was full of laughing and screaming and gasping and "Oh My Gods!" and "Nooooos" and what have you. So there, yes I said it, I jumped, it was freaky, but I was scared only once. The other appearances from the Woman in Black were less terrifying.
The play was generally good, loved it, I expected it to be freakier, like a horror movie, fast paced and unending terror. It was a great fulfilling experience though. We stayed back for a post-show discussion with the actors (I wonder why the actress who played the Woman in Black didn't come out) then we headed back home, while poking fun at ourselves for not being brave enough. I dunno, but going to the theatre makes one feel kind of bourgeois, I enjoyed it.
Next up- Lenny Henry live! (Laura- hahahahhaa sorry you can't be here), now that's gonna be an experience.
Ho Buffet- Hoes in different area Codes. hahahahahaha

Dreamgirls

I just saw Dreamgirls, and oh my God, I was totally blown away. I knew it was a musical, but I didn't know the characters interacted with music at times, and I wasn't expecting Jamie Foxx to sing, but he was amazing as usual. The star performance of course- wifey! Jennifer Hudson, her rendition of 'And I am telling you' was wonderful, I dare say better than Holliday's. She is a natural talent. Beyoncé upped her game, Deena was made for her. The dining table scene with Jamie was perfect, you can see the growth from Foxxy Cleopatra to Deena Jones.

Eddie Murphy was amazing, he is established as far as I am concerned, so I wasn't surprised by his dramatic role, I knew damn well he could pull it off. go Eddie! Anika Noni Rose, she played her part smoothly and wonderfully, and I finally realised who she looks like- a female Keith David, they have the same smile. I found it eeire that Effie's replacement (Sharon Leal's character) was called Michelle, just like Destiny's Child.

The movie is totally worth seeing over and over again. I don't know, but I felt like I was the only one in the cinema that was really 'feeling' the movie, I seemed to hear a 'silent' "Oh not again", when someone started singing. I was almost in tears (yes again, I'm a man! niggas) after Jennifer Hudson's 'you're gonna love me'.

I like the homages, the Jackson 5, with the Campbell Connection were they called? and Eddie with the wool beanie, looking like Marvin Gaye.

I heard Beyoncé beat out Alicia Keys for the role of Deena, hmmm Alicia would have made an amazing Deena as well. Ashanti would have done a swell job as well. I'm in love with this movie. Totally blew me away. At first I thought all this Jennifer Hudson talk was all hype, well now I've seen it, and it aint no hype. Well deserved SAG and Golden Globe, now go get the Oscar baby! Beyoncé deserved the Golden Globe Nomination as well. But wait, we are forgetting Jamie Foxx, I guess people felt his Ray Golden Globe and Oscar should last him 3 years, nevertheless he did an amazing job, Jamie is going places. Will Smith, Terrence Dashon Howard & even ol' Denzel were considered for Jamie's role. Somehow, I don't see Denzel singing, just me! and was I the only one waiting for Anthony Hamilton to pop up randomly, I don't know, but this movie needed a cameo from him. Loretta Devine can sing as well!

But yeah, I hope JHud goes on to get more awards for Dreamgirls and future roles.

Black Star Power baby, Black Star Power!

Movie Update

Yes yes y'all, and we don't stop. So, I'm just back from London, so great to see new family. I had a chill time. We were supposed to go see Blood Diamond with Djimon and DiCaprio, but damn when we got to the cinema it was packed, there was a line of people waiting to get in, I was like 'Sweet Mother Jesus', I've never seen a theatre so full. Anyway, we skipped on the cinema tip, headed back home and rented 'You, Me and Dupree' it wasn't all that funny, it was aiight. So, anyway, so far I've seen The Last King of Scotland, and The Pursuit of Happyness.

Watching the POH made me cry, I can't remember the last time I shed a tear during a movie, but Will Smith's performance is so touching, I found myself shedding tears (well, one tear) Moving on.....I saw LKOS yesterday, Oh My God! Forest Whitaker is amazing, damn, it's beyond acting, it's supernatural, I mean, his transformation into Idi Amin is something else. Poor Leo, because, this year's Oscar has to go to Forest. Leo is gonna get it next year, thats if Denzel doesn't sneak up with American Gangster. So, yeah LKOS is a well made movie, has a very genuine, African feel to it, Authentic!

James McAvoy did an amazing job as Nicholas Garrigan, and Kerry Washington was the wifey as usual, she is hotter than the sun in the Sahara. (she must be Nigerian) anyway, I'm gonna see Dreamgirls soon, can't wait to see wifey- that's Jennifer Hudson! Smokin Aces with Lishee Baby and Common was off the chiney, and Taraji is so beautiful, and gangsta.

Movies to watch out for- Catch a Fire, Hot Fuzz, The Kingdom, Bobby ohhhhh!! "AMAZING" *with Oprah enthusiasm*

Uni has started- yay

Ranting away

When I started this blog thing, I thought I was gonna be consistent, you know like writing stuff every other day. Haha, little did I know of the perils of University life. So many essays and things to do that I just can't be arsed to write blogs.
Anyway, this week I'm free, and I'm going down to London to see my Auntie, I'm excited and stuff. William and Marlene left yesterday, we had fun!!! Although William slept almost all through Marlene's visit. We went to see Rocky Balboa at the cinema, the movie was goooooooooood!!! came back, Marly slept on the bed, I on the ground, and William spent all night playing games. Anyway, I'm eating 'Penne and Sweet and Sour Sauce' now, mmmmmm delicious. There's no work to do. This is bliss

Yay, its 2007, thats right its Two double O seven. Its a new year, and I know, y'all wanna know what my new year's resolution was. Ok, 1st- stop cussing or swearing whatever u won' call it. Yeah I have replaced Shit with Ish (but shitty remains) and I no longer use the F word- Fuck. I still say Nigga tho- thats not swearing.
My other resolution was to stop procrastinating, when I get homework- do it on time. Well I have been terrible in that aspect. I didn't do ish throughout the break, even tho I took 6 books home, I simple lagested and ate chicken, watched Malcolm X, and ate chicken. Laughed with my dad while we ate chicken. Read up all the gossip while I ate chicken. So now Im back in Sunda-land, and Im just beginning to start on work- Im so effed up. But I'll be done.
Today I almost bought Kingdom Come it was 6.95, but I saw a better deal- Two DVDs (Assault on Precinct 13 (new version) and Desperate Measures) for 5 bucks. I was like Nooooo, im Jays biggest fan, but this bargain was just unbearable, so I shed a tear as I replaced Kingdom Come on the shelf, and picked up this amazing bargain. cool. so since I left all my DVDs at home, i currently have 3, Glory, Assault on Precinct 13 & Desperate Measures, Coach Carter and The Seven Year Itch should arrive soon. After that I'll begin my Sidney Poitier collection! yearee. Thank God I finished my EastEnders essay. Anyway, ahhhhh I had Cornish Pasty and Pizza for dinner- You damn riiiiiiiiight, the ish was gooooooooooooooooooood.
